All of us… of course. Even if you’re not living in a risky area that has been prior subjected to floods and water overflows, you should get flood insurance. Maybe your upstairs neighbor forgot to turn down the water and, while you and he are at work, your apartment suffers serious damages. That’s when you most need a reliable insurance.

2. Myth: You can’t buy flood insurance immediately before or during a flood.

Fact: You can buy a flood Insurance anytime – but the policy isn’t effective until a 30-day waiting period after the first premium payment.

3. Myth: Homeowners insurance policies cover flooding.

Fact: Most home and business “multi-peril” policies do not cover flooding. Homeowners can include personal property coverage in their insurance and business owners can buy flood insurance coverage for their buildings, inventory and contents.

Myth: If you do not live in a high-flood-risk area, you do not need flood insurance.

Fact: All areas are susceptible to flooding. Studies have shown that nearly 25 percent of the flooding claims come from outside high-flood-risk areas.
